Chinese New Year celebrations kick off in Alhambra

Chinese New Year celebrations kicked off in Alhambra on Jan. 14 at City Hall, World Journal (世界日报) reports. A Chinese New Year Art and cultural exhibition will take be on display from Jan. 15-31. Alhambra Mayor Barbara Messina and councilmen Stephen Sham, Gary Yamauchi, and Luis Ayala attended at the kick-off ceremony on Monday.
Alhambra will also celebrate on Feb. 16 with the 22nd Chinese New Year Carnival. According to event director Huiping Chen, entertainment will include a dragon and lion dance show, a traditional Chinese play, Sichuan face-changing opera, and games. Festivities will take place between Garfield Avenue and Almansor Street on Valley Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are free to the public.
