Chinese American health care center reopens in Alhambra

UnitedHealthcare reopened Tuesday its newly renovated Alhambra store. Alhambra Vice Mayor Stephen Sham and Councilmen Gary Yamauchi and Luis Ayala joined other San Gabriel Valley community leaders for the ribbon cutting and celebration, according to a statement from the center.

The Alhambra location provides resources and information on Medicare and employer health plans for Chinese Americans in Los Angeles and Orange County. The Asian Plaza store at Garfield Avenue and Valley Boulevard originally opened in 2008 and is celebrating its five-year anniversary with a new space that includes a venue for educational events on nutrition, exercise, and disease management.

“We look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with community leaders to help improve the health of Medicare beneficiaries and the broader community," said Christopher Law, national vice president of UnitedHealthcare's Asian Initiatives.

UnitedHealthcare provides health insurance information in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. It is located at 30 W. Valley Blvd., Alhambra, Calif., 91801.
