County and USC scientists reported the results from the first round of antibody testing: around 4.1% of adults could be infected with COVID-19 as of April 9, the day before the study began. That day, 7,955 infections were confirmed, 312,000 less people than the possible infections that these preliminary results suggest.
Institutional settings are the frontlines of the COVID-19 battle with an outsized number of deaths occurring at skilled nursing and assisted-living facilities. The county now has 30 mobile testing sites for anyone with symptoms.
