Car collides with Metro bus on Mission and Atlantic

A metro bus and a car were involved in a collision at the intersection of Mission St and Atlantic Blvd on Wednesday morning.

Alhambra Police Department responded to the call at 6:18am. Officers found that a red 2011 VW Jetta had collided with a LA Metro bus at the scene. The driver of the 2011 VW Jetta was traveling westbound on Front St, while the bus was traveling northbound on Atlantic. According to witness statements, the driver of the Jetta had ran a red light. The bus ended up hitting the Jetta's broadside on the driver's side.

The male driver of the Jetta was injured and taken to LA County/USC hospital.  The driver of the bus, plus two passengers on the bus had minor injuries. All three were taken to the Alhambra Hospital Medical Center. No other passengers were injured. The other passengers were picked up by another Metro bus.

It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor. The driver of the Jetta, however, refused to cooperate with investigators at the scene and at the hospital, according to the Alhambra Police Department.
