Bicyclist killed in fatal collision on 10 Freeway

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a bus while he was riding a bike on the 10 Freeway in Alhambra, said authorities.

The bicyclist was in the carpool lane of I-10 East. A Los Angeles Transit Bus was traveling on the same direction in the same carpool lane at the time. The bus collided with the bicyclist around 4:30am on Sunday, according to a press release from the Los Angeles California High Patrol. The bicyclist was thrown onto the train tracks and died at the scene. Both vehicles were just west of Garfield Ave when the collision occurred.

The victim is a Hispanic male in his 40s. Information about his identity is being withheld pending notification of his family, according to the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.
