Armed resident barricades himself inside Alhambra home

Alhambra police arrested Monday an armed suspect who barricaded himself and his family inside his Alhambra home.

Police received a report around 5:20 a.m. that resident Jonathan Torres, 25, had fired two gunshots and threatened to shoot a relative with a handgun inside his home on the 1400 block of South Raymond Avenue. When police arrived, Torres had barricaded himself inside the home with his wife and several young children, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Officers negotiated with Torres on the phone, and the suspect and his family exited the residence around 8 a.m. Torres was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation, according to Alhambra PD.
