SGV Youth Summit

The prevention team at Pacific Clinics – Asian Pacific Family Center is hosting its 2nd annual San Gabriel Valley-wide Youth Summit for students between 6th and 12th grades on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 9am to 4pm at Garvey School in Rosemead, CA. We are collaborating with over 20 community and educational agencies to host workshops on various topics, including arts and entertainment, stress management, domestic violence, LGBT issues, gang prevention, and much more. Our first annual Youth Summit was a huge success with over 600 youth participants and volunteers in attendance.

Themed “Building Blocks for Strong Communities,” the Youth Summit seeks to empower youth to encourage them to make a difference in their communities, increase awareness of cultural diversity and social injustices, and promote social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being. We are currently accepting proposals from community agencies, faith-based organizations, student-led clubs, and community youth groups to host a youth workshop. Our Youth Summit Planning Committee meetings are once a month from 3pm to 5pm on October 7, November 4, and December 2. For more information about the youth summit and how you can participate, please contact sgvyouthsummit@gmail.com or 626-287-2988. Please visit facebook.com/SGVYouthSummit for regular updates.
