San Gabriel Mountains Forever Leadership Academy–applications due May 22

Recruiting leaders for the San Gabriel Mountains Forever Leadership Academy!

The San Gabriel Mountains Forever Leadership Academy is a 6-month training program of San Gabriel Mountains Forever (SGMF) that focuses on civic engagement, community advocacy and environmental protection. The Leadership Academy is building the next generation of public lands advocates working to protect and improve urban access to the San Gabriel Mountains, Rivers, and local parks.

Classes are taught by SGMF staff on topics including power analysis, community organizing, public speaking, social media and advocacy. The Leadership Academy is a FREE program and participants are eligible to receive:

  • $500 upon completion of the academy
  • Up to $1,000 towards a community advocacy project
  • Financial aid for transportation

Participants will be connected to organizations working to protect our country’s largest urban forest right here in Los Angeles County. Graduates of the Leadership Academy have been employed with SGMF and various local advocacy organizations.
