Multi-Ethnic Pediatric Eye Disease Study (MEPEDS)

Multi-Ethnic Pediatric Eye Disease Study (MEPEDS)

Do you know that vision disorders are the fourth most common class of disability of children in the United States and leading cause of handicapping conditions in childhood? “Does your child need a comprehensive eye exam but it is too expensive?” Chinatown Service Center has partnered with the USC Doheny Eye Institute to promote a children’s eye study called Multi-Ethnic Pediatric Eye Disease Study (MEPEDS). USC Doheny Eye Institute is offering  free comprehensive eye exams to kids 6 months to 5 years of age by USC doctors. The study is funded by the National Eye Institute through the National Institutes of Health. The goal of the study is to improve our understanding of the magnitude and causes of eye problems among young children in the U.S. The study also strives to identify factors which may cause eye disease or problems so that programs can be more effectively developed to prevent them. Your kids or grandkids are welcome to participate in this study and get a free eye exam at no cost. For more information about MEPEDS feel free to contact the USC MEPEDS Clinic at:
