Elba Alonso de Ortega

I’m a lifelong resident of Alhambra and having a local newspaper, like Alhambra Source, is very important to me. It’s the only way to know the issues that will directly affect my day to day, where I live. That’s why I decided to support Alhambra Source with a monthly donation.

Efren Moreno, Former Alhambra Mayor

Thank you Alhambra Source for truly informing the residents of Alhambra.

Jeff Maloney, Alhambra City Council Member

Fundraiser for Christopher Moran

100 West Main Street
Alhambra , CA 91801 United States

Friends, family and co-workers of Sonia Rosenbaum Moran, a patient care associate (PCA) at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, are planning a fundraising event to benefit her son, Christopher Moran.

Christopher is 15 years old.  He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on

June 11, 2010.  He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. At the time of diagnosis, Christopher received several blood and platelet transfusions due to severe anemia.

Christopher is a 10th grader and lives with his parents, Sonia and Robert, and two brothers, Felix and Andrew.  Sonia has worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital for 14 years.  Robert is currently unemployed.

The primary goal of this fundraiser is to assist the Moran family with Christopher’s medical bills and living expenses.  One hundred percent (100%) of the proceeds will go to Christopher Moran.

Additionally, the fundraiser aims to raise awareness about the bone marrow registry and the need for blood donations.

Funds will be raised as follows:

  1. 38 Degrees Ale House and Grill in Alhambra, California, will host an event on August 30 (4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) during which 20% of sales (excluding alcoholic beverages) will be donated to Christopher Moran.
  1. Raffle tickets will be sold with all proceeds donated to Christopher Moran. The raffle drawing will be held at 38 Degrees during the fundraising event at 9:00 p.m.  Winners need not be present.
  1. Private and public donations will be accepted directly to Christopher Moran.
