Truth: Tobacco smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, at least 69 of which are known to cause cancer. Some of the toxic chemicals that are found in tobacco smoke are also found in rat poison, toilet cleaner, gas chambers, embalming liquid, explosives and car exhaust.
Consequence: Non-smokers can get lung cancer and other smoking-related diseases by merely inhaling secondhand smoke.
Call for Action: The Clean Air for Everyone Coalition (CAFE) Coalition in Alhambra aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco smoke to residents and the environment. We want to share with the community our survey about the residents’ view on the health issue, and explore ways that we can work together to ultimately protect everyone from preventable smoking-related diseases!
Save the Date: CAFE Meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 4-5:30pm at the Joslyn Senior Center, 210 N. Chapel Ave., Alhambra, CA 91801. Everyone is invited, light refreshment will be served!
