Alhambra Hospital Medical Center ranked among top 10 for critical and pulmonary care

A report released recently by HealthGrades, the nation’s most trusted, independent source of physician information and hospital quality ratings, named Alhambra Hospital Medical Center one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care™.  Alhambra Hospital Medical Center has received 5-star ratings in the treatment of critical conditions, including sepsis, respiratory failure, diabetics acidosis and coma, which made the hospital ranks in the top 2% of over 5,000 hospitals in the nation.

AHMC has also received the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award for the eighth year in a row and is ranked among the top 10% in the nation for demonstrating excellent patient care quality outcomes when treating pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

In addition, Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is the Recipient of the HealthGrades Emergency Medicine Excellence Award™ for 2 Years in a Row (2010-2011) for performing at top level for 11 emergent conditions.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. Our physicians, nurses, and support staff at Alhambra Hospital Medical Center work very hard every day to provide the best care possible for our patients.  Receiving national recognition serves as a validation of the extraordinary efforts we see each day at our hospital,” Iris Lai, CEO of the hospital noted.

“As a community hospital, AHMC is extremely proud to receive this award. Our mission at AHMC is to provide the highest quality medical care to our community.” stated John Stewart, MD, Chairman of the Governing Board of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center.

“On behalf of the medical staff of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, we are happy to see that our hard work and dedication to patient care is being recognized. We have spent a lot of time and effort in developing clinical protocols and processes to ensure that prompt, quality care is offered to our patients,” said Chin Shih, MD, Cardiologist and Chief of Staff of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center. “We will continue to partner with AHMC to strive for better care for our community.”

Choosing a hospital can be a life or death decision. HealthGrades report found that patients treated at 5-star rated hospitals experience a 73% lower risk of mortality and a 63% lower risk of complications compared to 1-star rated hospitals. Top-performing hospitals had dramatically lower mortality rates than other hospitals, according to the study.

Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, a 144-bed, fully accredited general acute care hospital with 24 hour emergency care, is dedicated to providing the highest quality, personalized and safe medical care to the community.

Health Grades, Inc. is the leading independent healthcare ratings organization, providing quality ratings, profiles and cost information on the nation's hospitals, physicians, nursing homes and prescription drugs. No hospital can opt in or out of being rated, and no hospital pays to be rated.
