Academy of Special Dreams Foundation HONORED AS 2013 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT

New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews

Pasadena (CA) October 24, 2013 – The Academy of Special Dreams Foundation announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by Great Nonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2013 Nonprofit,” said Michael Dergar, CEO and Founder of the Academy of Special Dreams Foundation.  "Our mission is to increase public awareness about the creative talents of artists with disabilities so they can be successful in the arts.  We are proud of our accomplishments this year which include sponsoring exhibitions by our artists in residence at prestigious local museums, colleges and universities."

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that the Academy of Special Dreams Foundation received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients.  People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit.  For example, one client wrote,

"I am a dancer/choreographer/dance teacher and the Academy Of Special Dreams has helped me out in supporting me in what I do as an artist. They were inspired by my story that they have asked me to be an ambassador representing my city of Santa Clarita. They also help me out with scholarships. I seriously could not ask for more. I am so thankful that there is an organization that young artists with disabilities can get help in promoting what they do. I truly love this organization! :)Thank you Academy Of Special Dreams for everything you do for young artists with disabilities and for doing what you have done to help me. THANK YOU!!!"

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, the Academy of Special Dreams Foundation was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year.

“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with the Academy of Special Dreams Foundation have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization.  The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit.  This award is a form of recognition by the community.
