The Prevention Team at Pacific Clinics – Asian Pacific Family Center is hosting its 3rd Annual San Gabriel Valley-wide Youth Summit for students between 6th and 12th grades on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 8am to 5pm at Garvey School in Rosemead, CA. Themed “SUMmIT UP: Make a Difference,” the 3rd Annual Youth Summit seeks to empower youth by teaching them to develop leadership skills through leadership and advocacy, successful transitions, health and wellness, and learning from our diverse communities. We are collaborating with over 20 community and educational agencies to host FREE workshops on a wide range of topics. Some of the possible topics include arts and entertainment, stress management, domestic violence, LGBT issues, gang prevention, bullying, substance abuse prevention, internet safety, healthy relationships, and many more.

Our Youth Summit Planning Committee meetings are held once a month from 3pm to 5pm in the Clubhouse at Asian Pacific Family Center—9353 E. Valley Blvd. Rosemead, CA 91770. The upcoming meetings are scheduled for November 10, December 8, January 12, and February 9. Please feel free to join us and share your opinions/suggestions; we would love to hear from you!  Our first and second Youth Summits were great successes with a total of over 1,000 youth participants and volunteers in attendance! We could not have generated such outcomes without the community’s support and more importantly, your active attendance and participation as the youth! Please join us once again in this community effort to make the 3rd Annual Youth Summit an even greater success.

That being said, we are using an online registration form this year with the help and support from Planned Parenthood of Pasadena and SGV. Registration closes on January 13, 2012 so please hurry and sign up by using the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/sgvyouthsummit!The first 200 youth who arrive to Youth Summit will receive a FREE T-shirt! Gates open at 8am, so arrive early!
