Alhambra Source's Reporter Corps: Taking steps to reinvigorate local journalism

Alhambra Source recently launched Reporter Corps, a program that trains young adults in journalistic ethics and practice, multimedia storytelling skills, and how their local government works. I recently wrote an article for Online Journalism Review on how the program could be an example for how young people reporting on their own communities could transform local news, particularly in immigrant and underreported communities. Read the article How a Youth Reporter Corps Could Reinvigorate Local News, or scroll down for a glimpse into week two of Alhambra Source's Reporter Corps.

Independent journalism is a bedrock of democracy--and it's in crisis. Here at the Alhambra Source, we're committed to covering the local stories that matter most to you. We don’t have advertisers and we don’t have pay walls, but we do have bills. You read to the end of this story. That's great. But this kind of journalism will end without public support. Join us!
