Alhambra schools' superintendent recognized

Assemblyman Mike Eng will honor Alhambra Unified Schools District Superintendent Donna Perez at the “Make a Difference Day” awards this Wednesday. Perez will be among 12 other individuals who work or reside in the 49th Assembly District. Read a recent Q&A betwen Perez and the Alhambra Source. The Pasadena Star-News recently reported that Perez believes the district’s most innovative program is its Parent University; a grant-funded partnership that brings local parents together once a month to discuss topics such as “the ABCs of bullying” and “kids and the law.” Translators are available at the meetings. “Already we are seeing a reduction in expulsion/ suspension rates and an increase in attendance,” Perez told the Star-News. She also said all students should read “Oh, the Place You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss.
