Alhambra City Council last Monday approved sending out bids for improving Almansor Park's Pepsi playground, Pasadena Star-News reports.
The playground was originally built in the late 1980s with a grant from Pepsi-Cola, but has since become worn down, Director of Community Services Cynthia Jarvis told the Star-News. "It was a very nice playground in its day, but we want to update and bring it into today's standards," Jarvis said. "There are so many wonderful pieces of playground equipment available and we want to update it and have it nice and new."
Jarvis added that the new playground will include swings, climbing structures, and more shade to keep cool. The playground will also have two separate play areas, one for ages 2 to 5 and one for ages 5 to 12, Mayor Barbara Messina told the Star-News.
The playground will be completed within the year according to Jarvis, who says the City's tax revenue will cover the funds for the reconstruction. However, the City will not reveal the project's budget until after the bid process is complete.
