Alhambra Educational Foundation launches fundraising campaign for music programs

The Alhambra Educational Foundation announced Tuesday it is launching a fundraising campaign called "Music&More" to benefit K-8 music instruction at Alhambra Unified School District. The nonprofit organization and official fundraising partner of AUSD set a fundraising goal of $300,000 to support K-3 music teachers as well as band and orchestra programs for grades 4-8 at all 13 of the district's elementary schools.

“Whether you are a parent, business owner, or community member, whether you live in Alhambra, Monterey Park or elsewhere, AEF needs your support to implement these programs and to provide excellence in education to all our schools and students," AEF Board of Directors President Stephen Perry said Tuesday in a press release.

"Music&More" will also support college preparation programs at the district's five high schools, according to the press release from AEF, including college and career counseling as well as research and application resources. The campaign will run until June 30, 2014, and the district will implement the funds in the 2014-2015 school year.

The AEF was founded in 1993 and has donated more than $1.5 million to the district, according to the press release. Its major fundraising initiatives include a summer school program, an annual gala, and Taste of Alhambra. Visit AEF's website for more information or to donate.
