Alhambra city government warns against phone scam

The City of Alhambra posted a warning on Facebook Wednesday about a phone scam occurring in the city. A person has been calling residents and pretending to be an Alhambra Utilities Department employee, according to the City of Alhambra – Government Facebook page. The scammer has then demanded bill payment over the phone.

The city stressed that Alhambra Utilities Department will never call a customer to demand payment over the phone. "Please be aware and share this valuable information," said Wednesday's post.

Anyone who is contacted by a person who says they are from the utilities department and demands a payment over the phone can call the Alhambra Utilities Department at (626) 570-5061 or the Alhambra Police Department at (626) 570-5151.
