[email protected] are portraits of the City of Alhambra and the people who go about their lives here.
The photo: When Thomas Hart was a teenager in the 1970s, he lived on Stockbridge Avenue and had an amazing view of the Alhambra skyline. "In 1979, it wasn't nearly as common to have a clear day (no smog) as it is now,” said Hart, who took pictures wtih a Pentax ME Super 35-mm film camera. “On ‘interesting’ days, days that were stormy or unusually clear, I would take photos from our back yard which was located on the side of the hill. It commanded a beautiful view."
Sears which is the blue tower in the picture, closed in the 1990s and the Sears-Roebuck Tower now houses the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, which I toured earlier this year.
The photographer: Thomas Hart is still an active photographer and lives in the Antelope Valley and works in Pasadena. We found his image on his Flickr feed.
