2 arrested for bank customer robberies in Alhambra, Monterey Park

Two men were arrested Tuesday after allegedly robbing a bank customer in Alhambra and attempting to rob a customer in Monterey Park less than an hour later, the Pasadena Star-News reports.
Edwin Lulo, 20, and Cesar Solis, 24, stole pieces of checks and $20 bills from a woman at the Bank of America on Valley Boulevard and Almansor Street at 12:42 p.m., Sgt. Jerry Johnson told the Star-News. One of the men allegedly reached over and grabbed the money while the woman was waiting in line.
The men then tried to rob a customer at a branch at Garvey and Garfield avenues at 1:17 p.m., but after a struggle fled with no money, Lt. Bill Cuevas told the Star-News. A witness reported the suspects' license plate number, and officers pulled them over and arrested them for suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and commercial burglary.
