Residents were still without power in parts of Alhambra Thursday afternoon due to a truck accident that damaged equipment Thursday morning. According to Southern California Edison, power should return to most houses by 6 p.m.
Originally reported 10/25/2012 9:17am:
A truck accident early Thursday morning knocked out electricity to thousands of homes, Pasadena Star-News reports. A truck clipped or snagged power lines near Valley Boulevard and Ethel Avenue around 5:46 a.m., Alhambra Police Sgt. Sean Heckers told the Star-News.
Southern California Edison crews are working to repair the damage and power is expected to be restored before 12 p.m., according to the utility.
Thursday morning's outage followed a short power outage Wednesday night that affected the Los Angeles area, spreading from Montebello to Hollywood, Los Angeles Times reports. Edison officials told the Times the outages occurred because "an animal got into a substation." More than half the homes had power restored within 20 minutes and almost all others had power before the evening ended.
To check the status of the current power outage, call Southern California Edison at 1 (800) 611-1911.
