Popular Chinese speed dating show launches in LA
A popular Chinese speed dating TV show called Fei Cheng Wu Rao (非诚勿扰, literally “If not sincere, then do not disturb”) will launch in the United States, China Press (僑報) reports. More than 3,000 Chinese singles applied to be guests on the show, including some Hollywood stars; 40 finalists will be selected to go to Beijing for the program recording at the end of November.
Applicant Miss Li said she is a big fan of the show and has watched every episode. She said it was hard to find a suitable mate in Los Angeles due to her small social circle and packed work schedule, and this would be a good opportunity to meet a partner. Miss Zhang, an applicant from Washington, D.C. told China Press that she had a lot of pressure from her family, and her mother is always asking her when she is going to get married. Miss Zhang said she wanted to have a Chinese boyfriend who shared a similar culture background and living style, but she had a small chance of finding one due to the small Chinese population in the United States.
