Pedestrian killed on Garfield Avenue in Alhambra*
UPDATED 7.21.14 AT 4:21 P.M.:
A 68-year-old Alhambra resident was killed Monday morning after a vehicle struck her on Garfield Avenue and McLean Street.
The pedestrian was crossing Garfield in a crosswalk around 6:30 a.m. when a driver struck her while turning onto Garfield from McLean, according to Sgt. Jerry Johnson of the Alhambra Police Department. The victim was rushed to Huntington Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The 39-year-old female driver, also an Alhambra resident, remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, according to a Monday statement from Alhambra PD. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

A pedestrian died Monday morning after a car struck her on Garfield Avenue and McLean Street in Alhambra, the Pasadena Star-News reports.
The collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. The female pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries, Lt. Dan Rodriguez told the Star-News.
The driver was cooperative and remained on the scene.
Garfield between McLean and Alhambra Road was closed in both directions as police investigated the incident, the Alhambra Police Department posted Monday on Facebook. The agency posted an update around 12 p.m. that the road is open to traffic.
