May crime report: auto-related thefts continue to rise

Auto burglary continues to be the highest reported crime in Alhambra with 53 reports for the month of May. It is the most often reported crime in the entire San Gabriel Valley, according to the Alhambra Police Department.
Grand thefts also increased to 39 reports, which is the highest it has been all year. Here are some tips on how to prevent auto burglary from the Alhambra PD's recently relaunched Facebook page:
Don't leave items of value visible through car windows. Electronic devices (cellphones, gps systems, i-pods, laptops, notebooks, etc), cash, coin, jewelry, purses and gym bags are very attractive to thieves who just cannot resist a good opportunity to take your stuff. If you can't take it with you, keep valuables hidden and locked away in the trunk. It's not foolproof but it is certainly better to leave items hidden and locked away in the trunk than in the passenger compartment of your car.
