Man charged with murder after Pop Warner brawl at Monterey Park pizza parlor *Corrected

Jose de Jesus Ruiz faces murder charges after a fight over a youth football game at a Monterey Park pizzeria left another man dead, L.A. Times reports.

Ruiz, 22, attended a Pop Warner football game in Bell Gardens on Saturday before going to a Shakey's pizza restaurant in Monterey Park, authorities said. Fans from a rival team were also at the restaurant. A verbal disagreement escalated into a physical fight, during which Ruiz allegedly stabbed and killed 25-year-old Patrick Raymond Ortega.

Ruiz, who is from Bakersfield, according to Pasadena Star-News, will be arraigned in Alhambra Superior Court and is charged with one count of murder. If convicted, Ruiz will face 26 years to life in prison.

The Times article does not say Ruiz is from Alhambra, it says he will be arraigned in Alhambra Superior Court. The Star-News reported that he is from Bakersfield. http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/ci_21742871/man-charged-murder-monterey-...
