Alhambra’s Main Street will be repaved this fall and new curbs and gutters, drainage culverts, and cross gutters will be constructed, Around Alhambra reports.

The City Council approved the contract in August. Last month, All American Asphalt began at the east end of Main Street working their way west, grinding the pavement during the day and repaving with rubberized asphalt concrete during the night. This paving material not only has a longer life span than other materials but is also environmentally beneficial and available at a lower cost.

The contract covers the work from the east city limit to Second Street and Atlantic to the west city limit. The portion of Main Street, between Second and Atlantic, will be paved after the other segments are completed.

What a great opportunity to consider adding bike lanes along Main Street.
