The Year of the Dragon officially began Monday. Rosemead started early with a celebration on Sunday (which had been postponed due to rain from Saturday). Among the highlights was Dragon's Beard candy (龍鬚糖), a dish similar to cotton candy made using a mixture of honey and maltose dipped in corn starch.  Other attractions included numerous local vendors displaying their wares, a raffle for a new car, street food and a performance by the Mark Keppel High School marching band.
