Look@Alhambra are portraits of the City of Alhambra and the people who go about their lives here.

Nate Gray, who blogs at A Culinary (Photo) Journal, is a regular at the Alhambra Farmer's Market. He captured Douglas Adair, one of the first farmers at the market who has been going there from Thermal, California for more than 25 years.

The photo: Adair shows off a bunch of barhi dates (edible fresh) at his stand in the Alhambra Farmer's Market. The Source has an ongoing column about the Alhambra Farmer's Market throughout the year from watermelon radishes to tomatillos, peaches, and fava beans. According to Adair's website, barhi dates can be so soft they literally melt in your mouth when ripe.

The photographer: Nate Gray is a culinary photographer and has a wealth of information on spices and produce from around the globe and will go out of his way to get the story behind any recipe. An IT specialist and native of Kentucky, Gray considers most of his photos as documentary in nature, where he tries to capture circumstances as they are at a given moment while interfering as little as possible.
