Alhambra success story: Yin Yin Huang music studio

At the Yin Yin Huang Music Studio in Alhambra, students are not only taught how to master their instruments, but also how to use their talents for the good of the community, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports.

Under the guidance of instructor Yin Yin Huang, who has taught music for the last 25 years, pupils have lent their talents to retirement homes, benefit concerts, and even Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. Her students have also raised money for children who have lost their instruments in the Katrina disaster in New Orleans.

"I empower my students to serve their community as well as to pursue the right journey in their lives," Huang told the Tribune.

Huang has garnered praise for her contributions. In 2009 she was honored as Alhambra Woman of the Year by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Pasadena. A native of Taiwan, Huang enjoys performing as much as she does teaching. She has played in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and has performed with a number of symphonies in Southern California.
