Alhambra Source visits World Journal (世界日報)

A meeting about potential collaborations between Alhambra Source and World Journal  (世界日報) made it to the pages of the Chinese-language newspaper.

Writer Annie Zhang reported on Alhambra Source's visit last week to World Journal's Southern California headquarters in Monterey Park. The purpose of the meeting was exploring possible cooperation models to reach the mutual goal of serving the community.

World Journal is the Chinese-language paper most read by Chinese-Americans, and Alhambra residents. The daily, founded in 1976, originated from the Taiwanese newspaper United Daily News. Today, World Journal is published in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles (Chinese Daily News), Toronto and Vancouver, as well as other cities with Chinese-American populations. The paper's LA-office president James Guo explained it adopted a “Three Bridges Theory": bridge overseas Chinese with mainland China; bridge Chinese diaspora communities across geographic areas; bridge overseas Chinese with mainstream society and other ethnic groups.

The paper's President James Guo and Editor Shyh Yaw Chen welcomed the Alhambra Source delegation of students, a community contributor, researchers, editor Daniela Gerson, and USC Annenberg Professor Michael Parks. Ideas explored ranged from content sharing, translation assistance, and collaborative stories. As we develop ways to work together in the future, if you have ideas we would appreciate hearing them.
