Alhambra Chinese Association founded

Alhambra recently founded a Chinese Association, with a board of directors including 17 accomplished Chinese residents from varied backgrounds in law, finance, and restaurants, World Journal (世界日報) reports.
The new organization's chairman, Ma Huang Siming, told the Journal that Alhambra was the only city in the San Gabriel Valley without a Chinese association. He said that first task is to establish a Chinese school, with a planned opening by the end of the year in North Alhambra. The Alhambra Chinese Association also intends to bridge communication between the public and the local government by conveying the needs of the Chinese community to the City Council. A dinner featuring Congresswoman Judy Chu was held at Almansor Court on June 9th to celebrate the association's founding.
