GET IN SHAPE, IN STYLE, AT NEW MISSION FITNESS CENTER

If you want to be in better shape but don’t like impersonal or crowded gyms, the new Mission Fitness Center in San Marino, on Mission Street near Garfield Avenue, may be just what you need.
Fitness professional Wendy and Chris Grace, who will launch the center on June 4th, say that one of their top goals is a high level of personal service. “We are not going to treat people like numbers,” Wendy says. “Here, everyone will know your name.”
The gym is located in a beautiful brick building in San Marino’s Mission District, at 2451 Mission Street, just east of Garfield Avenue (and east of the South Pasadena border.) The spacious interior has the feel of an art gallery, with high ceilings, exposed brick and wood walls, and huge paned windows. In fact, the Graces plan to display works by local artists on the walls. They also intend to pamper their clients with free amenities like morning coffee, towels and much more. And they will limit memberships, so it will never be too crowded.
The Graces are serious about fitness, and their gym offers a wide range of equipment, including a cardio area, many different free weights for experienced exercisers and athletes, and a circuit training area for beginners and people who need a gentle routine. With numerous fitness and nutrition certifications, and over 36 years of experience as personal trainers between them, the Graces pride themselves on the diverse clientele they’ve served, from young teenagers to people in their 90s, from beginners to elite athletes and dancers. “We’ve had a little bit of everything, and we will continue that tradition,” Wendy explains.
With novices and seniors in particular, Wendy says, “We don’t believe in over-training. We truly believe in starting people with baby steps. And we teach them how to move properly, so they don’t injure themselves. “
Unlike many chain gyms, Mission Fitness Center will offer a straightforward fee structure: A monthly fee, competitive with other gyms in the area, plus a fee for private training sessions that the client wishes to purchase. “There won’t be any other hidden membership fees of any kind,” says Wendy.
An upcoming opportunity to check out the gym and talk to the Graces about your needs is the gym’s Grand Opening Party, on Wednesday, July 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
